Behind the scenes of Heartificial Intelligence

Take a look behind the scenes of Heartificial Intelligence - an installation that investigates the roles that technology and community each play in the healthcare journey of young heart patients.

The project was a collaboration between moving image studio TripleDotMakers; Evelina Children Heart Organisation Teens; and researchers at Wellcome/EPSRC Centre for Medical Engineering whose work explores themes of trust, bias and data in AI.

A group of ten young people with heart conditions and their siblings met with TripleDotMakers and the researchers for a series of online and in person workshops. Together, they devised an installation that uses generative AI to pulse in sync with the heartbeats of its visitors, while an accompanying audio piece captures their recorded discussions about AI and the future of healthcare.
