Calling all creatives, coders and designers! Science Gallery London has teamed up with augmented reality guru Blippar, local creative venue Ugly Duck and the Entrepreneurship Institute at King’s College London to run a one-day hackathon exploring vision and perception.

Inspired by themes including: colour and vision, non-human vision and seeing the unseen, participants will work together to build a blipp in a day. The winning #EyeHack team will see their blipp live on the Science Gallery London hoardings opposite The Shard at London Bridge from January 2017.

About #EyeHack

This one-day hackathon invites participants to come together and connect with people from different disciplines to build augmented reality experiences (blipps) in small teams in response to a brief set by Science Gallery London and Blippar.

Blippar is a visual discovery browser which uses augmented reality, artificial intelligence and computer vision technology. Blipps allow users to discover more from the world around them, through seamlessly overlaying digital multimedia over real life objects and images. Read our blog post on 'what makes a good blipp'.

Our hackathon is an all-day event where people, with different skills, can collaborate on a creative project involving computer programming. For #EyeHack the hackathon will be focused on producing an eye-themed blipp.

Team blipps will be judged on the basis of creative concept, execution and fit with Science Gallery values.

The judging panel are:

-        Daniel Glaser, Director, Science Gallery London

-        Tony Lock, Managing Director, Sherlock

-        Chantal Pinkham, Cultural Partnerships Manager, Blippar

The winning blipp will be activated in early January and accessed via the eyeball graphic on the Science Gallery London hoardings opposite The Shard.
