Science Gallery Venice announced as the fifth member of the Science Gallery network

We are excited to announce that Science Gallery Venice will open in 2019 in partnership with The Ca’ Foscari University of Venice

Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, in collaboration with Science Gallery International and the Venetian District for Research and Innovation, will this evening officially announce the development of Science Gallery Venice. With pop-up activities starting from 2017, the gallery will open its doors in 2019 in San Basilio, an area of Venice currently undergoing significant urban regeneration.

Speaking in advance of this evening’s official announcement event, Michele Bugliesi, Rector of the Ca’ Foscari University of Venice said: "Today, we celebrate a major achievement for Ca’ Foscari and for the future of research and Venice. Joining the other members of the Global Science Gallery Network in London, Dublin, Bangalore and Melbourne, Science Gallery Venice will be a centre for innovation and research in both science and the arts. It will become a source of ideas and experiments for researchers from around the world." 

Dr Andrea Bandelli, Executive Director of Science Gallery International (the organisation driving the development of the Global Science Gallery Network) commented: “Science Gallery Venice will be a new beacon for public engagement in Italy, bringing the unique approach of Science Gallery to ignite the creativity of millions of young adults where science and art collide.”

Like all galleries in the network, Science Gallery Venice will create and host free exhibitions, events and workshops, specifically designed for a target audience of young adults from 15 to 25 years old. It will trigger new forms of collaboration between scientists and creative arts, developing innovative education programs and enhancing the excellence of research carried out by universities and other scientific institutions in all fields of knowledge.

Ca’Foscari will look to appoint a visionary Director for Science Gallery Venice in 2017.
