Update - 25 March
Following the UK government recommendation that people avoid social venues, the Science Gallery London building closed at 6pm on Monday 16 March (including our gallery, café, shop and hire venues) until further notice.
The health and safety of our staff, visitors and community is paramount, and therefore staff members have been advised to go home, ensure they have what they need in the immediate term, and to be patient with themselves and others as we all adjust to these uncertain new circumstances.
The nature of our work at Science Gallery London is fundamentally collaborative, and currently our teams are in contact with artists, researchers, our wider community, and colleagues at King’s College London, to establish new lines of communication, so that we can work together on what comes next.
And what does come next?
Closing a gallery is no small thing: the exhibitions, events and experiments we produce and present at Science Gallery London with our community of artists, researchers and young people are an expression of who we are; it will take us a little time to reconfigure.
However, a critical understanding of emerging science and technology research, and its impact for society, has never been more important: and this is at the core of what we do.
During the coming weeks Science Gallery London will be working with our community to identify how we can be a force for good in the current situation, doing what we do best: connecting people and ideas through conversations, art and experimentation - where art and science collide.
Our website will have current information about what is happening, and we’re on social media too if you need to be in touch, (and there will be a steady stream of things to read, see and think about here as we all find our feet).
