27 September - 27 September Tough Blood

Overview: Are some lives more painful than others?

Tough Blood is a new dynamic performance piece by multimedia artist Stephen Rudder in collaboration with choreographer Skytilz and Science Gallery London, using street dance, projection and sound design to explore the blood disease sickle cell anaemia.

Drawing from interviews with people living with the disease from the African-Caribbean community in London, the performance invites you to explore your relationship with your blood and the blood of others. Tough Blood brings personal insight, scientific research and the history of black trauma and perseverance together to open up questions around genealogy and perceptions of sickle cell anaemia.

The performance takes place alongside a photography exhibition, poetry and talks that raise awareness.
