Hidden Architectures

BY SAFFY SETOHY & JAN HENDRICKSE

Hidden Architectures is a collaboration between UK based choreographer Saffy Setohy and sound artist Jan Hendrickse. It explores the body as a living instrument, resonance, interconnectedness through deep listening, and the mouth as a vital site of communication and engagement with the world.

Hidden Architectures is an immersive performance installation performed by pairs of people connected mouth to mouth by near invisible threads. The sonic resonance of these lines are captured and amplified as they reverberate within the internal architecture of the performers’ bodies, out into the performance environment. The resonant body and mouth becomes a sound generator, amplifier and receiver.
