The Infinite Label List

Cian McConn

What do the words we wear say about us?

Initially inspired by the Irish abortion referendum in 2018, McConn began the Infinite Label List as a creative strategy for coping with the lack of control he felt in the social and political environment around him; in his case it was a response to what he and his friends identified as an infringement of basic human rights.

For ON EDGE McConn has invited Science Gallery London’s Mediators to participate in creating a new version of this artwork by choosing a word from his existing list and hand painting it onto a t-shirt that they will wear in the Gallery as they work. The Mediators will explore what the impact of their chosen word might have on their work as they guide visitors throughout the exhibition and events programme.
