Through Estranged Eyes
Free entry. Open Wednesday 7 May and Thursday 8 May 2025, 11am - 6pm
When the familiar becomes strange, and the world no longer follows the laws of nature—how do we make sense of what we see and who we are?
Through Estranged Eyes, a new VR exhibition, presented by students from King’s College London’s Department of Digital Humanities, explores the concept of estrangement through immersive experiences that challenge how we perceive the world around us.
Inspired by the ideas of Viktor Shklovsky and Bertolt Brecht, the works ask: What happens when our perception is fractured— when memory, feeling, and even reality itself can no longer be trusted?
Through intertwined journeys – one looking outward, the other inward – we step into a surreal, immersive world where the ordinary feels unfamiliar, and the everyday is seen anew.
What you encounter may blur the line between real and imagined, but it promises to leave you changed. Step inside. The real world might feel different when you return.
Caution: A few exhibits may contain mild elements of horror.
