Just Futures
Just Futures is a residency programme for young and emerging creatives, activists or convenors to explore and experiment with ideas for what just futures could look like.
We recognise that to create a just world, young people need to be at the centre of shaping and designing structures, systems and ideas for future living.
The Just Futures cohort for 2023 are The Spit Game UK - read about what they are up to.
Who is it for?
Just Futures is for an existing group of creatives, activists or convenors.
You might be an established collective, community interest corporation or charity, or you might be a group of friends starting out in your journey of creating together.
To submit an expression of interest, at least 80% of your group must be one of the following:
Aged 18 - 25 years old and living, working or studying in Southwark or Lambeth
Current student at King’s College London (undergraduate or postgraduate)
We are particularly interested in supporting people currently underrepresented in higher education, research and in the creative industries.
How does it work?
Just Futures consists of a grant of at least £10,000 to creatively explore questions relating to social justice, identity, climate, science, health or technology.
There are no set outcomes or deliverables. The main focus across the residency is space to experiment, learn and exchange ideas and knowledges necessary for the creation of just futures.
We provide training, support and mentoring as well as facilitate connections with researchers, artists and industry professionals.
How do I apply?
Currently, we will approach people directly about collaborating with us, and we generally make these approaches to groups we meet through outreach and relationship-building.
If you think your group is a good fit for the Just Futures residency, email Jaz to start a conversation: jasmine.white@kcl.ac.uk
