Abstract, futuristic or science-fiction-inspired images of AI hinder the understanding of the technology’s already significant societal and environmental impacts. Images representing AI as sentient robots mask the accountability of the humans developing the technology, and can suggest the presence of robots where there are none.

The non-profit collaborative project Better Images of AI has been established to research, create, curate and provide a library of images that look beyond the usual tropes.

For this workshop, we bring together artists and Machine Learning (ML) practitioners for a live showcase of the conversation and co-creation process that produces more accurate visual representations of data and ML content.

You can also participate in the creation process - feel free to bring your own artistic materials, though a limited selection will be provided.

This event is developed in partnership between London Data Week and Science Gallery London. It is part of the gallery’s new season AI: Who’s Looking After Me? developed in collaboration with FutureEverything.
