Join us at Science Gallery London for the creative workshop - Sh*t Happens!

Designed by artist Louise Mackenzie and George Stewart of Overlay Press, in this workshop you’ll learn how to make and print a toilet paper zine using waste paper and natural inks. You’ll also be able to contribute to a developing audio work to be featured in Science Gallery London's upcoming exhibition season, that highlights our biophilias and phobias around the use and management of human waste.

The project will explore why, in the 21st century, when our understanding of the importance and significance of microbial materials is so much greater, we are still so reluctant to embrace our relationship to our bodily functions. It further highlights that waste and waste management technologies are deliberately hidden from view and addresses this through developing a deeper cultural understanding of key natural bodily functions.

Researchers with an interest in waste management, recycling, materials and engineering might find the session particularly interesting, but the session is open to all.

This three-hour creative workshop will be include a mid-session break. Refreshments will be provided.
